The cyclooxygenase and peroxidase activities of prostaglandin H synthase (PGHS)-1 and -2 have complex kinetics, with the cyclooxygenase exhibiting feedback activation by product peroxide and irreversible self-inactivation, and the peroxidase undergoing an independent self-inactivation process.
