HYPOTHESIS Insertion of inferior vena cava filters (IVCFs) can prophylactically reduce pulmonary embolism (PE) in trauma patients. DESIGN Retrospective review. SETTING Urban, level I trauma center. PATIENTS Two hundred blunt trauma patients undergoing IVCF placement.
