Activation of NF-κB play important roles in inflammatory process of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Cold stress cause increased body heat production by thermogenesis achieved by accelerating uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation. We aimed to investigate whether Sargassum duplicatum was able to reduce the extent of joint damage through inhibition of NFκB activation in adjuvant arthritis an animal model of RA. Male adjuvant arthritic rats (age=10-12 wk; n=10/group) were exposed to cold stress (5C for…

An overview on the most important native medicinal plants against flour beetle

This paper was aimed to have an overview on the most important native medicinal plants against flour beetle by searching key words such as flour beetle, medicinal plant extracts or essential oils and Iran of published articles in authentic scientific databases.

Hexane fraction from Sargassum fulvellum inhibits lipopolysaccharide-induced inducible nitric oxide synthase expression in RAW 264.7 cells via NF-κB pathways.

The results indicate that the anti-inflammatory effects of HFS on LPS-stimulated cells are associated with the suppression of NF-κB through the inhibition of MAPKs and Akt phosphorylation.

Differential function of nitric oxide in murine antigen-induced arthritis.

Increased NO production induced by iNOS during the acute phase of AiA can be regarded as a protective response in the prevention of further leucocytic infiltration and joint destruction, whereas it seems to play a subordinate role in chronic AiA.

Molecular Hydrogen: New Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Therapy for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Related Diseases

Expectations regarding the potential benefits of H2 by reducing the oxidative stress, resulting from inflammatory factors, are raised and discussed here and include prevention of RA and related atherosclerosis, as well as therapeutic validity for RA.

Prevention of collagen-induced arthritis with an antibody to gp39, the ligand for CD40.

Interference with gp39-CD40 interactions with the use of an antibody that blocks their interactions may have therapeutic potential in the treatment of autoimmune disease.

Cytotoxicity and inhibition of nitric oxide in lipopolysaccharide induced mammalian cell lines by aqueous extracts of brown seaweed.

Brown seaweed of Malaysian origin should be investigated for the production of additional anti-inflammatory compounds after it was found that some extracts were moderately toxic, while others were not.

Anti-inflammatory compounds of macro algae origin: A review

This review focus on seaweed derivedAnti-inflammatory compounds, which have attracted interest and promising replacer of current anti-inflammatory drugs, and investigation of their pathway need to be studied.

Cytokines in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis

The crucial effector function of cytokines in the immunological processes that are central to the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis are discussed.
