We present an essentially complete, all-sky, X-ray flux limi ted sample of 242 Abell clusters of galaxies (six of which are double) compiled from ROSAT All-Sky Survey data. Our sample is uncontaminated in the sense that systems featuring prominent X-ray point sources such as AGN or foreground stars have been removed. The sample is limited to high Galactic latitudes (jbj 20 ), the nominal redshift range of the ACO catalogue of z 0:2, and X-ray fluxes above 5:010 12 erg cm 2 s 1 in the 0.1…
The Northern ROSAT All-Sky (NORAS) Galaxy Cluster Survey. I. X-Ray Properties of Clusters Detected as Extended X-Ray Sources*
In the construction of an X-ray-selected sample of galaxy clusters for cosmological studies, we have assembled a sample of 495 X-ray sources found to show extended X-ray emission in the first
The X-ray properties of nearby Abell clusters from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey : the sample and correlations with optical properties
We present an analysis of the X-ray emission for a complete sample of 288 Abell clusters spanning the redshift range 0.016 ≤ z ≤ 0.09 from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey. This sample is based on our 20 cm
The ROSAT-ESO Flux Limited X-ray (REFLEX) Galaxy cluster survey. V. The cluster catalogue
We present the catalogue of the REFLEX Cluster Survey providing information on the X-ray properties, redshifts, and some identification details of the clusters in the REFLEX sample. The catalogue
A Flux-limited Sample of Bright Clusters of Galaxies from the Southern Part of the ROSAT All-Sky Survey: The Catalog and log N-log S*
We describe the selection of an X-ray flux-limited sample of bright clusters of galaxies in the southern hemisphere, based on the first analysis of the ROSAT All-Sky Survey data (RASS1). The sample
The rapid evolution of AGN feedback in brightest cluster galaxies: switching from quasar-mode to radio-mode feedback
We present an analysis of the 2–10 keV X-ray emission associated with the active galactic nuclei (AGN) in brightest cluster galaxies (BCGs). Our sample consists of 32 BCGs that lie in highly X-ray
RASS-SDSS galaxy cluster survey - V. The X-ray-underluminous Abell clusters
Aims. In this paper we consider a large sample of optically selected clusters, in order to elucidate the physical reasons for the existence of X-ray underluminous clusters. Methods. For this purpose
The X-ray brightest clusters of galaxies from the Massive Cluster Survey
We present a statistically complete sample of very X-ray luminous galaxy clusters detected in the MAssive Cluster Survey (MACS). This second MACS release comprises all 34 MACS clusters with nominal
The ROSAT-ESO Flux-Limited X-ray (REFLEX) galaxy cluster survey - II. The spatial correlation function
We report the results of the spatial two-point correlation functioncc(r) for the new X- ray galaxy cluster survey REFLEX, which comprises of 452 X-ray selected clusters (449 with redshifts) detected
XMM-Newton Observations of Optically Selected Sloan Digital Sky Survey Clusters
We explore the X-ray properties of a subset of the optically selected Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) cluster sample of Goto et al. by analyzing seven public XMM-Newton pointings, with exposure times
The X-Ray Luminosity Function of Bright Galaxy Clusters in the Local Universe
We present the X-ray luminosity function (XLF) for clusters of galaxies derived from the RASS1 Bright Sample. The sample, selected from the ROSAT All-Sky Survey in a region of 2.5 sr within the
