Using a series of high-resolution N-body simulations of the concordance cosmology we investigate how the formation histories, shapes and angular momenta of dark-matter haloes depend on environment. We first present a classification scheme that allows to distinguish between haloes in clusters, filaments, sheets and voids in the large-scale distribution of matter. This method (which goes beyond a simple measure of the local density) is based on a local-stability criterion for the orbits of test…

THE SPIN AND ORIENTATION OF DARK MATTER HALOS WITHIN COSMIC FILAMENTS

Clusters, filaments, sheets, and voids are the building blocks of the cosmic web. Forming dark matter halos respond to these different large-scale environments, and this in turn affects the

Assembly bias in the clustering of dark matter haloes

We use a very large simulation of structure growth in a Λ cold dark matter (ΛCDM) universe – the Millennium Simulation – to study assembly bias, the fact that the large-scale clustering of haloes of

Impact of Cosmic Filaments on the Gas Accretion Rate of Dark Matter Halos

We investigate the impact of cosmic filaments on the gas accretion rate, Ṁgas , of dark matter halos in filaments, based on cosmological hydrodynamic simulation. We find that for halos less massive

The geometry of the filamentary environment of galaxy clusters

We construct a filament catalogue using an extension of the halo-based filament finder of Zhang et al. (2009), in a 250 Mpc h−1 side N-body simulation, and study the properties of filaments ending

THE COSMIC HISTORY OF THE SPIN OF DARK MATTER HALOS WITHIN THE LARGE-SCALE STRUCTURE

We use N-body simulations to investigate the evolution of the orientation and magnitude of dark matter halo angular momentum within the large-scale structure since z = 3. We look at the evolution of

Internal properties and environments of dark matter haloes

We use seven high-resolution N-body simulations to study the correlations among different halo properties (assembly time, spin, shape and substructure), and how these halo properties are correlated

The Cosmic Ballet: spin and shape alignments of haloes in the cosmic web

We investigate the alignment of haloes with the filaments of the cosmic web using an un-precedently large sample of dark matter haloes taken from the P-Millennium Lambda cold dark matter cosmological

Dependence of the dynamical properties of light-cone simulation dark matter halos on their environment

Aims. We study the dependence of the dynamical properties of massive (M ≥ 1.5 × 1013 M⊙ h−1) dark matter halos on their environment in a whole-sky ΛCDM light-cone simulation extending to z ∼ 0.65.

The shape of dark matter haloes in the Aquarius simulations: evolution and memory

We use the high resolution cosmological N-body simulations from the Aquarius project to investigate in detail the mechanisms that determine the shape of Milky Way-type dark matter haloes. We find

The impact of filamentary accretion of subhaloes on the shape and orientation of haloes

Dark matter haloes are formed through hierarchical mergers of smaller haloes in large-scale cosmic environments, and thus anisotropic subhalo accretion through cosmic filaments has some impacts on

We investigate the orientation of the axes and angular momentum of dark matter halos with respect to their neighboring voids using high-resolution N-body cosmological simulations. We find that the
