In this paper we investigate the electrodynamic surface properties of bare strange quark stars. The surfaces of such objects are characterized by the formation of ultrahigh electric surface fields which might be as high as {approx}10{sup 19} V/cm. These fields result from the formation of electric dipole layers at the stellar surfaces. We calculate the increase in gravitational mass associated with the energy stored in the electric dipole field, which turns out to be only significant if the… Expand

Structure of Quark Stars
Abstract This paper gives an brief overview of the structure of hypothetical strange quarks stars (quark stars, for short), which are made of absolutely stable 3-flavor strange quark matter. SuchExpand
Strong electric fields induced on a sharp stellar boundary
Due to a first-order phase transition, a compact star may have a discontinuous distribution of baryon as well as electric charge densities, as e.g. at the surface of a strange quark star. The inducedExpand
Quark core impact on hybrid star cooling
In this paper we investigate the thermal evolution of hybrid stars, objects composed of a quark matter core, enveloped by ordinary hadronic matter. Our purpose is to investigate how important theExpand

Anisotropic charged stellar models in Generalized Tolman IV spacetime
With the presence of electric charge and pressure anisotropy some anisotropic stellar models have been developed. An algorithm recently presented by Herrera et al. (Phys. Rev. D 77, 027502 (2008)) toExpand
Some electrically charged relativistic stellar models in general relativity
Some new families of electrically charged stellar models of ultra-compact star have been studied. With the help of particular form of one of the metric potentials the Einstein–Maxwell field equationsExpand
