Electron-acoustic waves occur in space and laboratory plasmas where two distinct electron populations exist, namely cool and hot electrons. The observations revealed that the hot electron distribution often has a long-tailed suprathermal (non-Maxwellian) form. The aim of the present study is to investigate how various plasma parameters modify the electron-acoustic structures. We have studied the electron-acoustic waves in a collisionless and unmagnetized plasma consisting of cool inertial…

Electron acoustic solitary waves with non-thermal distribution of electrons

Abstract. Electron-acoustic solitary waves are studied in an unmagnetized plasma consisting of non-thermally distributed electrons, fluid cold electrons and ions. The Sagdeev pseudo-potential

The electron-acoustic mode in a plasma with hot suprathermal and cool Maxwellian electrons

The electron-acoustic wave, in a plasma with hot suprathermal, kappa-distributed electrons and cool, Maxwellian electrons, is investigated. This model is a generalization of those that have been

Solitary waves and weak double layers in a two‐electron temperature auroral plasma

We show that the main characteristics of ion acoustic solitary waves and weak double layers observed by the Swedish satellite Viking can be well reproduced assuming the presence of two electron

Parametric study of kinetic Alfvén solitons in a two electron temperature plasma

The nonlinear regime of the kinetic Alfven wave is studied in a collisionless low-β plasma that is composed of a cold ion population and of two electron populations. In the one electron population

Arbitrary amplitude ion-acoustic solitary excitations in the presence of excess superthermal electrons

Velocity distribution functions with an excess of superthermal particles are commonly observed in space plasmas, and are effectively modeled by a kappa distribution. They are also found in some

Observation of Electron Plasma Waves in Plasma of Two-Temperature Electrons

Propagation of electron plasma waves in a large and unmagnetized plasma containing two Maxwellian distributions of electrons is studied experimentally. Two kinds of plasma sources which supply

Gas-dynamic description of electrostatic solitons

The nonlinear propagation of electrostatic solitary structures in unmagnetized multispecies plasmas is studied in the wave frame, where they are stationary. via the recently developed MeKenzie

The electron‐acoustic mode

This paper examines electrostatic modes in an unmagnetized, homogeneous, Vlasov plasma with three Maxwellian components: ions, hot electrons, and cool electrons. In such a plasma, the
