Fast self sustained waves of chemical or phase transformations, observed in several contexts in condensed matter effectively result in “gasless detonation”. The phenomenon is modelled by coupling the reaction diffusion equation, describing chemical or phase transformations, and the wave equation, describing elastic perturbations.
