FEEDING A CHOLINE-DEVOID (CD) diet markedly influences the process of chemical hepatocarcinogenesis in the rat. The diet can act as a cocarcinogen (Lombardi & Shinozuka, 1979; Shinozuka, et al., 1978a), shift the organ specificity of azaserine from pancreas to liver (Shinozuka et al., 1978b), enhance the evolution of initiated liver cells to foci of preneoplastic hepato-and stimulate the evolution of the latter to hepatomas (Takahashi et al., 1982).
