Cigarette smoking is a major health issue in the United States. Research has shown that more than a quarter of young adults aged 18-24 are smokers, and there has been a recent rise in the prevalence of cigarette smoking among college students. Many researchers have investigated smoking among nursing students, in the United States and worldwide.
