The Queen's University Department of Pathology and its affiliated hospital laboratories (Kingston, Canada) have operated a successful laboratory outreach program for more than a decade in Southeastern Ontario. Outreach Implementation Requirements: A Case Study

This chapter describes the implementation of a hospital-based clinical laboratory outreach program, Beaumont Reference Laboratory, and its affiliation with a regional hospital laboratory network, Joint Venture Hospital Laboratories (JVHL), to secure provider status with major local and regional insurance carriers.

Collaborative Networks: Helping Rural Laboratories Achieve Quality

The experience of developing an egalitarian, collaborative network over a 30‐year period is described and the benefits of this practice are illustrated.
