OBJECTIVES Recent studies demonstrated that prolactin (PRL) has beneficial effects on beta cells for islet transplantation. We examined the effect of human recombinant PRL (rhPRL) supplementation to the culture media to determine its potential use in the context of clinical islet transplantation.
