Prolactin, an anterior pituitary hormone, has been shown to have a role in immunomodulation. Some reports have shown the importance of prolactin in activating lymphocytes and macrophages, while in hyperprolactinemia patients, prolactin was found to decrease lymphocyte activation and natural killer function.
