BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Leukoaraiosis (LA) is a frequent finding on brain CT scans. This study examined patients with LA and symptomatic internal carotid artery disease. METHODS Patients in the North American Symptomatic Carotid Endarterectomy Trial were evaluated for the extent of LA.
