We examined retrospectively the outcome of patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) with systemic involvement of the central nervous system (CNS) registered at The Norwegian Radium Hospital (NRH) from 1980 to 1996, in order to evaluate our treatment strategy for these patients. 170 of 2561 patients (6.6%) had CNS involvement, 140 (5.5%) systemic CNS lymphoma (SCNSL) and 30 (1.2%) primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL).
