A research project was initiated to examine the possibility of using supercritical carbon dioxide for in situ recovery of ethanol during its production by yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. As a preliminary step, it was necessary to study the behavior of ethanol production under high-pressure conditions, up to 7 MPa (1000 psi).
