Abstract A macroalga (Cladophora fracta) and a microalga (Chlorella protothecoides) samples were used in this work. Most current research on oil extraction is focused on microalgae to produce biodiesel from algal oil. The biodiesel from algal oil in itself is not significantly different from biodiesel produced from vegetable oils. Algal oils, as well as vegetable oils, are all highly viscous, with viscosities ranging 10–20 times those of no. 2 diesel fuel. Transesterification of the oil to its…
Harvesting, oil extraction, and conversion of local filamentous algae growing in wastewater into biodiesel
TLDR
It has been demonstrated that filamentous macroalgae may be cultivated as biodiesel feedstock and have inherent advantages such as an ability to remove phosphorus and nitrogen compounds from wastewater, simplicity of harvesting, and natural resistance to local aquatic grazers and competing organisms.
Experimental Investigation on Production of Biodiesel from Padina boergesenii sp. Macro Algae
An alternative energy source to replace the use of non-sustainable and environmentally harmful fossil fuel which considered as main energy source worldwide and especially in the Middle East region.
Spectral, In Vitro Biological, Engine and Emission Performances of Biodiesel Production from Chlorella protothecoides: A Sustainable Renewable Energy Source
In this research, microalgae species, Chlorella protothecoides was selected for biodiesel production due to its ability to produce large amount of hydrocarbons and oils with high lipid composition.
Preparation and Characterisation of Biodiesel from Marine Macro- algae Chaetomorpha spp
The petition for substitute energies has increased in the past numerous years. Several substitutes have come into existence in recent years, and many more are on their way to get established as a
Production of Biodiesel from Marine Macroalgae occurring in the Gulf of Guinea, off the Coast of Ghana
The purpose of this study was to determine the suitability of marine macroalgae (also known as seaweeds), from the Gulf of Guinea, off the coast of Ghana, for the production of biodiesel as an
Production of Biodiesel from Marine and Freshwater Microalgae: A Review
Aim: The increase in the annual global energy consumption over the past century has relayed heavily on fossil fuels. Fossil fuel burning have accelerated CO 2 emissions on a global scale. CO 2 makes
Introduction of macroalgae as a source of biodiesel in Iran: analysis of total lipid content, fatty acid and biodiesel indices
Abstract The aim of this work was to describe and compare the main fatty acids and biodiesel indices of some green and brown macroalgae (seaweeds) collected from the Persian Gulf, as an alternative
