Discharge specifications are allowable effluent limits of constituents in produced water before being discharged into the environment. Environmental regulatory agencies in the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and Niger Delta regions have specified effluent limits for the constituents of produced water. These PW discharge limits may be specified for metals, solids, bacteria, oil/grease content, PH, temperature, process chemicals and dispersed hydrocarbon constituents.
