Procarbazine, a drug used for cancer chemotherapy, is carcinogenic in rodent bioassays. We analyzed the mutagenicity of procarbazine in various organs and the clastogenicity of the drug in hematopoietic cells of the lacZ transgenic MutaMouse. This was part of the second collaborative study of the Mammalian Mutagenesis Study Group of the Japanese Environmental Mutagen Society on the transgenic mouse mutation assay.
