Procaine hydrochloride was added to cardioplegia and studied for its efficacy in stabilizing the postischemic rhythm after aortic declamping in cardiac surgery. Fifty-six patients scheduled for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), were included in a randomized, double-blind study.
