We derive the cross-section for exclusive vector meson production in high energy deeply inelastic scattering off a deuteron target that disintegrates into a proton and a neutron carrying large relative momentum in the final state. This cross-section can be expressed in terms of a novel gluon Transition Generalized Parton Distribution (T-GPD); the hard scale in the final state makes the T-GPD sensitive to the short distance nucleon-nucleon interaction. We perform a toy model computation of this…
Nucleon-nucleon correlations, short-lived excitations, and the quarks within
This article reviews our current understanding of how the internal quark structure of a nucleon bound in nuclei differs from that of a free nucleon. We focus on the interpretation of measurements of
EIC Detector R&D Progress Report
Excellent particle identification (PID) is an essential requirement for a future Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) detector. Identification of the hadrons in the final state is critical to study how
Review of the electric dipole moment of light nuclei
In this review, we summarize the theoretical development on the electric dipole moment of light nuclei. We first describe the nucleon level CP violation and its parametrization. We then present the
Extracting many-body color charge correlators in the proton from exclusive DIS at large Bjorken x
We construct a general QCD light front formalism to compute many-body color charge correlators in the proton. These form factors can be extracted from deeply inelastic scattering measurements of

Nuclear Forces from Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics
A century of coherent experimental and theoretical investigations have uncovered the laws of nature that underly nuclear physics. The standard model of strong and electroweak interactions, with its
Colour transparency and scaling properties of nuclear shadowing in deep inelastic scattering
AbstractWe present the perturbative QCD analysis of nuclear shadowing in the deep inelastic scattering at smallx in terms of the spatial wave function ofq $$\bar q$$ fluctuations of virtual photons.
Probing the repulsive core of the nucleon-nucleon interaction via the (4)He(e,e'pN) triple-coincidence reaction.
Two-nucleon short-range correlated pairs are identified and their isospin structure is deduced as a function of missing momentum in a region where the nucleon-n nucleon (NN) force is expected to change from predominantly tensor to repulsive.
Diffractive excitation in QCD*
Hadronic collision models based on QCD predict remarkably large cross sections for diffractive scattering of hadrons on a nuclear target. The diffraction arises from the overall transparency of a
Evidence for short-range correlations from high Q2 (e,e') reactions.
We argue that the ratio of cross sections of quasielastic electron scattering for heavy and light nuclei at xg1 and ${\mathit{Q}}^{2}$g1 (GeV/c${)}^{2}$ should exhibit simple scaling relations which
Exclusive Processes in Perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics
We present a systematic analysis in perturbative quantum chromodynamics (QCD) of large-momentum-transfer exclusive processes. Predictions are given for the scaling behavior, angular dependence,
Generalized parton distributions
The EMC Effect and High Momentum Nucleons in Nuclei
Recent developments in understanding the influence of the nucleus on deep-inelastic structure functions, the EMC effect, are reviewed. A new data base which expresses ratios of structure functions in
Hard diffractive electroproduction of vector mesons in QCD.
This work deduces a kinematical boundary for the region of applicability of the decomposition of the hard amplitudes over powers of {ital Q}{sup 2} and/or a limit on the increase of the cross sections of hard processes at small {ital x}, and briefly analyze its consequences.
An accurate nucleon-nucleon potential with charge-independence breaking
We present a new high-quality nucleon-nucleon potential with explicit charge dependence and charge asymmetry, which we designate Argonne v18. The model has a charge-independent part with fourteen
