A bstractWe use fragmenting jet functions (FJFs) in the context of quarkonia to study the production channels predicted by NRQCD (3S1(1), 3S1(8), 1S0(8), 3PJ(8)). We choose a set of FJFs that give the probability to find a quarkonium with a given momentum fraction inside a cone-algorithm jet with fixed cone size and energy. This observable gives several lever arms that allow one to distinguish different production channels. In particular, we show that at fixed momentum fraction the individual…
Transverse momentum dependent fragmenting jet functions with applications to quarkonium production
A bstractWe introduce the transverse momentum dependent fragmenting jet function (TMDFJF), which appears in factorization theorems for cross sections for jets with an identified hadron. These are
Jet axes and universal transverse-momentum-dependent fragmentation
A bstractWe study the transverse momentum spectrum of hadrons in jets. By measuring the transverse momentum with respect to a judiciously chosen axis, we find that this observable is insensitive to
Analytic and Monte Carlo studies of jets with heavy mesons and quarkonia
A bstractWe study jets with identified hadrons in which a family of jet-shape variables called angularities are measured, extending the concept of fragmenting jet functions (FJFs) to these
Heavy quark jet fragmentation
A bstractIn this paper we study the fragmentation of a parton into a jet containing a heavy quark. When heavy quarks are involved in a jet, the quark mass can lead to a numerically significant
Hadron fragmentation inside jets in hadronic collisions
We present an analytical next-to-leading order QCD calculation of the partonic cross sections for the process pp! (jeth)X, for which a specic hadron is observed inside a fully reconstructed jet. In
New observables in inclusive production of quarkonia
Probing transverse-momentum dependent evolution with groomed jets
A bstractWe propose an observable which involves measuring the properties (transverse momentum ph⊥ and energy fraction zh) of an identified hadron inside a groomed jet. The jet is identified with an
Effective Field Theory approach to heavy quark fragmentation
A bstractUsing an approach based on Soft Collinear Effective Theory (SCET) and Heavy Quark Effective Theory (HQET) we determine the b-quark fragmentation function from electron-positron annihilation
Transverse momentum spectra at threshold for groomed heavy quark jets
A bstractWe present the transverse momentum spectrum for a heavy hadron at threshold in a groomed jet initiated by a heavy quark. The cross section is doubly differential in the energy fraction of an
Disentangling heavy flavor at colliders
We propose two new analysis strategies for studying charm and beauty quarks at colliders. The first strategy is aimed at testing the kinematics of heavy-flavor quarks within an identified jet. Here,

Fragmentation with a Cut on Thrust: Predictions for B-factories
When high-energy single-hadron production takes place inside an identified jet, there are important correlations between the fragmentation and phase-space cuts. For example, when one-hadron yields
Systematics of quarkonium production at the LHC and double parton fragmentation
In this paper we discuss the systematics of quarkonium production at the LHC. In particular, we focus on the necessity to sum logs of the form log(Q/p⊥) and log(p⊥/mQ). We show that the former
Fragmentation in jets: Cone and threshold effects
We study the fragmentation of (light) quarks and gluons to hadrons inside a jet of cone size R. This allows for a more exclusive analysis of fragmentation than is currently the case. The shape of
Parton fragmentation within an identified jet at NNLL
The fragmentation of a light parton i to a jet containing a light energetic hadron h, where the momentum fraction of this hadron as well as the invariant mass of the jet is measured, is described by
Fully-unintegrated parton distribution and fragmentation functions at perturbative k⊥
A bstractWe define and study the properties of generalized beam functions (BFs) and fragmenting jet functions (FJFs), which are fully-unintegrated parton distribution functions (PDFs) and
Color-Octet Fragmentation and the ψ ′ Surplus at the Tevatron
The production rate of prompt ψ ′ 's at large transverse momentum at the Tevatron is larger than theoretical expectations by about a factor of 30. As a solution to this puzzle, we suggest that the
Heavy quark fragmenting jet functions
A bstractHeavy quark fragmenting jet functions describe the fragmentation of a parton into a jet containing a heavy quark, carrying a fraction of the jet momentum. They are two-scale objects,
J/ψ and Ψ Polarization in Hadronic Production Processes
Both charm and bottom quarks form nonrelativistic bound states analogous to positronium. The J/ψ and ψ(2S) charmonium states and the first three Ψ(nS) bottomonium states, all spin-triplet S-wave
SCET approach to top quark decay
Heavy quarkonium production and polarization.
We present a perturbative QCD factorization formalism for the production of heavy quarkonia of large transverse momentum p(T) at collider energies, which includes both the leading-power (LP) and
