If the symmetry breaking inducing the axion occurs after the inflation, the large axion isocurvature perturbations can arise due to a different axion amplitude in each causally disconnected patch. This causes the enhancement of the small-scale density fluctuations which can significantly affect the evolution of structure formation. The epoch of the small halo formation becomes earlier and we estimate the abundance of those minihalos which can host the neutral hydrogen atoms to result in the 21…

Boosting small-scale structure via primordial black holes and implications for sub-GeV dark matter annihilation

We explore the possibility that the annihilation of dark matter (DM) is boosted due to enhanced substructure in the presence of primordial black holes (PBHs) which constitute a sub-component of DM.

Anisotropies in cosmological 21 cm background by oscillons/I-balls of ultra-light axion-like particle

Ultra-light axion-like particle (ULAP) with mass m ∼ 10-22 eV has recently been attracting attention as a possible solution to the small-scale crisis. ULAP forms quasi-stable objects called

Probing isocurvature perturbations with 21-cm global signal in the light of HERA result

We argue that the 21-cm global signal can be a powerful probe of isocurvature perturbations, particularly for the ones with blue-tilted spectra. Although the 21-cm global signal is much affected by

In an axion-dominated universe the authors place an upper limit to the axion mass of about ${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}4}$ eV, and point out all the uncertainties involved in determining the precise value of the mass.

Astrophysical Effects of Scalar Dark Matter Miniclusters

We model the formation, evolution and astrophysical effects of dark compact Scalar Miniclusters (``ScaMs''). These objects arise when a scalar field, with an axion-like or Higgs-like potential,

Axion dark matter from topological defects

The cosmological scenario where the Peccei-Quinn symmetry is broken after inflation is investigated. In this scenario, topological defects such as strings and domain walls produce a large number of

Early structure formation constraints on the ultralight axion in the postinflation scenario

Many works have concentrated on the observable signatures of the dark matter being an ultralight axion-like particle (ALP). We concentrate on a particularly dramatic signature in the late-time

Isocurvature bounds on axion-like particle dark matter in the post-inflationary scenario

We assume that dark matter is comprised of axion-like particles (ALPs) generated by the realignment mechanism in the post-inflationary scenario. This leads to isocurvature fluctuations with an

Constraining the nature of ultra light dark matter particles with the 21 cm forest

The ultra-light scalar fields can arise ubiquitously, for instance, as a result of the spontaneous breaking of an approximate symmetry such as the axion and more generally the axion-like particles.

Post-inflationary axion isocurvature perturbations facing CMB and large-scale structure

Dark matter comprised of axion-like particles (ALPs) generated by the realignment mechanism in the post-inflationary scenario leads to primordial isocurvature fluctuations. The power spectrum of

Axion minicluster power spectrum and mass function

When Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry breaking happens after inflation, the axion field takes random values in causally disconnected regions. This leads to fluctuations of order one in the axion energy

Intensity mapping as a probe of axion dark matter

Intensity mapping (IM) of spectral lines has the potential to revolutionize cosmology by increasing the total number of observed modes by several orders of magnitude compared to the cosmic microwave

Dark matter targets for axionlike particle searches

Many existing and proposed experiments targeting QCD axion dark matter (DM) can also search for a broad class of axionlike particles (ALPs). We analyze the experimental sensitivities to
