The irreversible inhibitor of chymotrypsin-like serine proteases, N-tosyl-L-phenylalanine chloromethylketone (TPCK), was shown to prevent internucleosomal DNA cleavage caused by inducers of apoptosis. The pro-apoptotic properties of TPCK have been studied less thoroughly.
