In the last few decades, advances in observational cosmology have given us a standard model of cosmology. We know the content of the universe to within a few percent. With more ambitious experiments on the way, we hope to move beyond the knowledge of what the universe is made of, to why the universe is the way it is. In this paper we focus on primordial non-Gaussianity as a probe of the physics of the dynamics of the universe at the very earliest moments. We discuss (1) theoretical… Expand

Primordial non-Gaussianities after Planck 2015: an introductory review
Abstract Deviations from Gaussian statistics of the cosmological density fluctuations, so-called primordial non-Gaussianities (NG), are one of the most informative fingerprints of the origin ofExpand
The Intrinsic Bispectrum of the Cosmic Microwave Background
Cosmology, intended as the study of the origin and evolution of the Universe and its components, has advanced from being a philosophical discipline to a data-driven science. Much of this progress wasExpand
Origin of structure: Statistical characterization of the primordial density fluctuations and the collapse of the wave function

Non-Gaussianity and Minkowski functionals: forecasts for Planck
We study Minkowski Functionals as probes of primordial non-Gaussianity in the Cosmic Microwave Background, specifically for the estimate of the primordial `local' bi-spectrum parameter f_NL, withExpand
Foreword: Advances in Astronomy Special Issue on Testing the Gaussianity and Statistical Isotropy of the Universe

Planck 2015 results - XVII. Constraints on primordial non-Gaussianity
The Planck nominal mission cosmic microwave background (CMB) maps yield unprecedented constraints on primordial non-Gaussianity (NG). Using three optimal bispectrum estimators, separableExpand
The Standard Model of Cosmology
Cosmologists are now converging towards a unified picture of the Universe, similar to when particle physicists built the standard model of particle physics. The standard model of cosmology depictsExpand
Primordial non-Gaussianities produced by features in the potential of single slow-roll inflationary models
We study the effects of a general type of features of the inflaton potential on the spectrum and bispectrum of primordial curvature perturbations. These features correspond to a discontinuity in theExpand

Non-Gaussianity and the Cosmic Microwave Background Anisotropies
We review in a pedagogical way the present status of the impact of non-Gaussianity (NG) on the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropies. We first show how to set the initial conditions atExpand
Non-Gaussianity from inflation: theory and observations
This is a review of models of inflation and of their predictions for the primordial non-Gaussianity in the density perturbations which are thought to be at the origin of structures in the Universe.Expand
Large scale structure, the cosmic microwave background, and primordial non-gaussianity
