A series of six primary ovarian smooth-muscle tumors were studied. Four were ordinary leiomyomas and two were neoplasms with prominent mitotic activity, which we designated mitotically active leiomyomas. The patients' ages ranged from 42 to 76 years (median, 50.5 years). In five of six patients, synchronous leiomyomas of the uterus were also present.
