Prostatic urothelial-type adenocarcinoma arises through a process of glandular metaplasia of the prostatic urethral urothelium and subsequent in situ adenocarcinoma sometimes associated with villous adenoma. These prostatic adenocarcinomas are analogous to nonurachal adenocarcinomas arising in the bladder from cystitis glandularis.
