BACKGROUND & AIMS The use of esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) to remove superficial esophageal neoplasms is gradually becoming more common in Japan. However, large-scale esophageal ESD often requires subsequent multiple balloon dilations to prevent postoperative esophageal stricture.
