Preventing recurrence after deep vein thrombosis.

  • Published 2012 in Prescrire international

Abstract

Analysis of 7 randomised trials in patients without cancer has shown that after distal deep vein thrombosis due to an identified temporary cause, the risk of recurrence is low: 6 weeks of warfarin therapy appears sufficient for these patients. It is better to treat other cases for 3 months.
