The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of new daily persistent headache (NDPH) in the general population, and compare the clinical characteristics of NDPH and chronic tension-type headache (CTTH). This is a population-based cross-sectional study. A random sample of 30 000 persons aged 30-44 years was drawn from the population of Akershus County, Norway. A postal questionnaire was screened for chronic headache. Those (n = 633) with self-reported chronic headache within…
Is daily headache related to asthma? Results from a population-based survey
TLDR
Individuals with asthma symptoms are at higher risk of daily headache than those without the symptoms, suggesting a link between these conditions.
Pediatric Headache and Sleep Disturbance: A Comparison of Diagnostic Groups – A Response
TLDR
It is argued that the number of patients diagnosed with new daily persistent headache (NDPH) in the sample was unrealistically high, and some patients with chronic migraine or chronic tension-type headache may have been misdiagnosed with NDPH.
New daily persistent headache: Should migrainous features be incorporated?
TLDR
Unlike prior studies, this study showed NDPH-M represented a more severe subgroup with a poorer outcome compared with NDPh-S, and Migrainous features were common in patients with NDPH.
New daily persistent headache: a systematic review on an enigmatic disorder
TLDR
The current knowledge of epidemiology, clinical features, trigger factors, pathophysiology, diagnosis and therapeutic options of NDPH are described to better understand this enigmatic disorder.
Is new daily persistent headache a fallout of somatization? An observational study
TLDR
Continuation of past tendencies to manifest as NDPH suggests that NDPH may be an epiphenomenon of somatization.
Time to retire 'New daily persistent headache': Mode of onset of chronic migraine and tension-type headache.
TLDR
A cohort of patients referred to headache services is consistent with a mode of onset of migraine and tension-type headache which occurs in predisposed individuals, and a fifth improved on preventative medication.
New Daily Persistent Headache? Comment on “Pediatric Headache and Sleep Disturbance: A Comparison of Diagnostic Groups”
TLDR
I read with interest the article “Pediatric headache and sleep disturbance: a comparison of diagnostic groups” by Rabner et al, and am surprised by the high number of patients having diagnosis of “new daily persistent headache (NDPH),” in the absence of patients with other forms of chronic headaches.

TLDR
An important question that remains unanswered is whether premorbid depression or anxiety is an important risk factor for the development of NDPH, or is simply a comorbidity acquired after the presence of a chronic, debilitating, painful disorder.
Other Primary Headache Disorders
TLDR
Patients with primary headache disorders that are classified as “other primary headaches disorders” have presentations with unique diagnostic and management considerations, and an appreciation of the diagnoses will aid clinicians in providing safe and effective care for patients presenting with headache.
