The first report on cat scratch disease (CSD) was published in 1950, but the etiological agent was identified only in 1992, when Bartonella henselae was definitely shown to be linked with CSD in humans [1]. Little is known about the epidemiology of Bartonella infections, apart from the fact that B. henselae infection is likely acquired from infected cats.
