Objective:  We investigated frontal quantitative EEG (QEEG) as predictor of changes in suicidal ideation (SI) during SSRI treatment in major depressive disorder (MDD).
Brain functional changes (QEEG cordance) and worsening suicidal ideation and mood symptoms during antidepressant treatment
TLDR
Brain functional changes (QEEG cordance) and worsening suicidal ideation and mood symptoms during antidepressant treatment during antidepressants treatment are found to be linked.
Prediction of Response to Antidepressants: Is Quantitative EEG (QEEG) an Alternative?
TLDR
The current literature and recent developments on the role of quantitative EEG (QEEG) predictors of treatment outcome in major depressive disorder are reviewed.
Frontal Alpha Asymmetry Moderated by Suicidal Ideation in Patients with Major Depressive Disorder: A Comparison with Healthy Individuals
TLDR
The results suggest that SI is a clinically important moderator of frontal alpha asymmetry in patients with MDD, and moderated the effects of depressive symptom on FAA in the MDD group.
Association between cognitive deficits and suicidal ideation in patients with major depressive disorder
TLDR
It is suggested that executive function, motor speed function, and global neuropsychological function are associated with suicidal ideation in patients with MDD and that the BACS neuroPsychological battery is an efficient instrument for monitoring these characteristics.
Using Electroencephalography for Treatment Guidance in Major Depressive Disorder.
Electroencephalographic Correlates of Suicidal Ideation in the Theta Band
TLDR
The findings suggest that brain electrical activity at the fronto-central region may be associated with differences in SI in young healthy subjects, and EEG activity in theta band has clinical potential as a biomarker for preventing suicide.
Does suicidal desire moderate the association between frontal delta power and psychological pain?
TLDR
The findings suggest that, unless a respondent’s psychological pain is recent and substantial, the PS may not capture the intensity of current psychological pain as effectively as the OMMP.

Prospective studies of suicidal behavior in major depressive and bipolar disorders: what is the evidence for predictive risk factors?
TLDR
Evidence is reviewed from prospective studies for clinical factors that elevate risk of suicidal acts in a group of people with mood disorders and then analyzed for predictive indicators for suicidal acts.
Treatment-Associated Suicidal Ideation and Adverse Effects in an Open, Multicenter Trial of Fluoxetine for Major Depressive Episodes
TLDR
New SI was relatively common in this trial of fluoxetine and associated with the emergence of activation and overall symptomatic worsening, and whether prophylaxis against or aggressive treatment of adverse events can decrease emergence of SI merits further study.

Antidepressant Drugs and the Emergence of Suicidal Tendencies
TLDR
Data clearly demonstrate that antidepressants ameliorate suicidal ideation more effectively than placebo in patients with depression, and observations suggest that antidepressants may redistribute suicide risk, attenuating risk in some patients who respond well, while possibly enhancing risk in others who respond more poorly.
Absence of a relationship between adverse events and suicidality during pharmacotherapy for depression.
TLDR
Results from double-blind, placebo- and comparator-controlled fluoxetine clinical trials in patients with major depression do not suggest a relationship between a treatment-emergent adverse event pattern and suicidality in this population of patients.
Antidepressants and suicide: risk-benefit conundrums.
TLDR
The data reviewed here make it difficult to sustain a null hypothesis that SSRIs do not cause problems in some individuals and further studies or further access to data are indicated to establish the magnitude of any risk and the characteristics of patients who may be most at risk.
