1. Single-fibre group Ia excitatory post-synaptic potentials (e.p.s.p.s) were evoked in triceps surae motoneurones. These e.p.s.p.s were reduced by conditioning stimulation of group I axons in posterior biceps-semitendinosus nerves. 2. The investigation concentrated on e.p.s.p.s of somatic origin, because the amplitude of these e.p.s.p.s is not reduced by post-synaptic conductance increases.
