Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) has been reported to be locally synthesized in the ovary although its physiological roles are still unknown. To define the origin of ovarian ANP, we demonstrated the presence and release of immunoreactive (ir) ANP in pig granulosa cells and characterized its biochemical properties.
