Preprints and preprint servers as academic communication tools
TLDR
The concept, development, advantages and limitations of preprints and preprint servers are analyzed, attending to their main function as publicly available repositories of manuscripts on the way to getting published.
New Observations and Insights into the Morphology and Growth Kinetics of Hydrate Films
TLDR
The quantitative results on the kinetics of film growth showed that for a given degree of subcooling, the initial film thicknesses of the double hydrates were larger than that of pure methane or ethane hydrate, whereas the thickest hydrate film and the lowest lateral growth rate occurred when the methane mole fraction was approximately 0.6.
Patterns of text reuse in a scientific corpus
TLDR
This first comprehensive study of patterns of text reuse within the full texts of an important large scientific corpus, covering a 20-y timeframe, infer a baseline for accepted practice, perhaps surprisingly permissive compared with other societal contexts, and a clearly delineated set of aberrant authors.
