Abstract The nanometer particles of TiO 2 and Al/TiO 2 (1.0, 5.0, and 10.0 wt.%) were obtained by a sol–gel method. The TiO 2 and Al/TiO 2 particles were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), DLS, TG-DSC, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The TiO 2 and Al/TiO 2 particles exhibited a uniform anatase structure with particle size below 100–150  nm. Obtained Al/TiO 2 particles absorbed wavelengths above 270 nm.
