Maternal and fetal risk The pregnancy related changes in intravascular volume, cardiac output, and systemic vascular resistance may result in maternal or fetal deterioration in women with CHD. Pregnancy in women with CHD, not complicated by Eisenmenger syndrome, is associated with low mortality.
