OBJECTIVE Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain and lowered pain threshold. Other prominent symptoms include disordered sleep and fatigue. FMS affects an estimated 2% of the population, predominantly women. This trial was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pregabalin, a novel alpha(2)-delta ligand, for treatment of symptoms associated with FMS. METHODS This multicenter, double-blind, 8-week, randomized clinical trial compared the effects… Expand

Safety and efficacy of pregabalin in adolescents with fibromyalgia: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial and a 6-month open-label extension study
TLDR
Pregabalin did not significantly improve the mean pain score in adolescents with FM and trends toward improvement with pregabalin in other secondary outcomes measuring pain, sleep, and FM impact were not significant. Expand
Gabapentin in the treatment of fibromyalgia: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter trial.
TLDR
Gabapentin (1,200-2,400 mg/day) is safe and efficacious for the treatment of pain and other symptoms associated with fibromyalgia and was generally well tolerated. Expand

TLDR
The results support the use of pregabalin as a mechanism-based treatment for pain and sleep disturbances in patients with fibromyalgia. Expand
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase III trial of pregabalin in the treatment of patients with fibromyalgia.
TLDR
Pregabalin monotherapy provides clinically meaningful benefit to patients with FM and all pregabalin treatment groups showed statistically significant improvement in assessments of sleep and in patients' impressions of their global improvement. Expand
Pregabalin for the treatment of fibromyalgia
TLDR
This review addresses pregabalin pharmacokinetics, efficacy and adverse event (AE) profiles from randomized controlled trials and open-label extension studies in patients with FM and raises questions on the generalizability of the RCT findings to the typical patient seen in clinical practice. Expand
Efficacy and Safety of Pregabalin for Fibromyalgia in a Population of Chinese Subjects
TLDR
Pregabalin (300–450 mg/day) is a safe and effective treatment for reducing pain and improving sleep in native Chinese subjects with FM. Expand

TLDR
Pregabalin has analgesic, anticonvulsant, and anxiolytic activity and has earlier demonstrated efficacy in the management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, and as adjuvant therapy for adult patients with partial onset seizures. Expand
Long-term Maintenance of Response Across Multiple Fibromyalgia Symptom Domains in a Randomized Withdrawal Study of Pregabalin
TLDR
Post hoc analysis of data from a multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, withdrawal study indicates that pregabalin provides long-term effects across multiple domains of FM. Expand
Efficacy and Safety of Mirtazapine in Fibromyalgia Syndrome Patients: A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Pilot Study
TLDR
Based on findings, the sample size requirement should be 83 per group to detect PVAS change difference between mirtazapine 30 mg and placebo and further study with a larger sample size is likely to be useful. Expand
