The post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS), which refers to chronic clinical manifestations of venous insufficiency after a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), is a frequent occurrence. Because treatment options for PTS are limited, its management mainly relies on the prevention of its occurrence after DVT. Among identified predictors of PTS, extensive proximal location of DVT directly modifies the treatment of DVT because of the possibility of performance of complementary endovascular techniques.
