  • Systemic kinetics of three inflammatory mediators (bactericidal/permeability-increasing protein [BPI], soluble intercellular adhesion molecule [sICAM], and soluble E-selectin [sE-selectin]) were studied during the development of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) (n = 42), diagnosed on quantitative cultures of bronchoscopic samples.
