Various prediction models, based on experimental results to evaluate formwork pressure exerted by self-consolidating concrete were established based on extensive laboratory evaluation. The models are based on the measurements of the structural build-up of the concrete with rest time and placement characteristics of the concrete. The latter includes the rate of rise of the concrete in the formwork, concrete temperature, and minimum dimension of the formwork. This paper presents the results of…

Understanding formwork pressure generated by fresh concrete

Abstract: Correct prediction of the pressure on formwork from the fresh concrete to avoid under- or overestimating its value is vital in minimizing the cost of the formwork. Existing models for

Prediction of the lateral pressure exerted by self-compacting concrete on formwork

This study concerns the prediction of lateral pressure exerted by self-compacting concrete (SCC) on formwork during the casting process. This estimation is obtained using Janssen's model as used in

Evaluation of SCC Formwork Pressure

Self-consolidating concrete (SCC) is a new class of high-performance concrete that can fl ow readily under its own weight and consolidate without mechanical vibrations and with minimum risk of

Effect of Viscosity-Enhancing Admixtures on Formwork Pressure and Thixotropy of Self-Consolidating Concrete

An experimental program was undertaken to determine the influence of the type and concentration of viscosity-enhancing admixture (VEA) on formwork pressure that can be exerted by self-consolidating
