We proposed a conceptual model to predict binge-drinking behavior among college students, based on the theory of planned behavior and the stress-coping hypothesis. A two-wave online survey was conducted with predictors and drinking behavior measured separately over 2 weeks' time. In the Wave 1 survey, 279 students at a public university in the United States answered questions assessing key predictors and individual characteristics. In the Wave 2 survey, 179 participants returned and reported…

The Roles of Prevention Messages, Risk Perception, and Benefit Perception in Predicting Binge Drinking among College Students
TLDR
Findings suggested only PBPC was significantly related to binge drinking and the relationship was positive; prevention-message exposure was not directly associated with binge drinking, but was positively associated with PPNC, PSNC, PPPC, and PBPC; none of the mediational paths was significant.
Binge drinking in 14-year-old Italian students is correlated with low or high psychological well-being: a cross-sectional study
TLDR
Findings on unbalanced levels of PWB could represent the potential target of longitudinal studies aimed to implement specific preventive interventions among young adolescents, and implications for research and prevention are discussed.

In this case study, I describe the procedure of conducting a binge-drinking study using a twowave online survey and a negative binomial regression, taking readers to the heart of some methodological…

TLDR
Although further studies must be conducted before a definitive conclusion is reached, a TPB model excluding past behavior, which is arguably more parsimonious and theory driven, may predict HED among college drinkers better than a model including past behavior.
Trends in College Binge Drinking During a Period of Increased Prevention Efforts: Findings from 4 Harvard School of Public Health College Alcohol Study Surveys: 1993–2001
TLDR
The percentages of abstainers and frequent binge drinkers increased, a polarization of drinking behavior first noted in 1997, and a sharp rise in frequent binge drinking was noted among students attending all-women's colleges.
The Association between Parent Communication and College Freshmen's Alcohol Use
TLDR
Findings indicate that parental communication regarding the negative effects of alcohol may be ineffective at reducing college drinking or drinking consequences.
The theory of planned behaviour and binge drinking: Assessing the moderating role of past behaviour within the theory of planned behaviour.
TLDR
Regression analyses revealed attitude, self-efficacy, and perceived control (negative relationship) to be predictive of binge drinking intentions and intent, and past behaviour was found to moderate the attitude-intention and intention-behaviour relationships.
The daily stress and coping process and alcohol use among college students.
TLDR
The daily stress coping-drinking process is complex, and it appears that there are both positive and negative affective pathways underlying daily alcohol consumption.
Binge Drinking Interventions among College Students
TLDR
It is clear from these studies that binge drinking continues to be a problem in present times and prevention effort in the form of effective interventions is the need of the hour.
Predicting binge-drinking behaviour using an extended TPB: examining the impact of anticipated regret and descriptive norms.
TLDR
The study suggests that modifying attitudes and inducing regret may be effective strategies for reducing binge-drinking intentions among undergraduates, which should reduce subsequent binge-Drinking behaviour.
