Parkinson’s disease (PD) is an idiopathic disease caused by necrosis and apoptosis of dopaminergic cells in the brainstem, which are probably induced by oxidative stress. Current therapeutic strategies comprise symptomatic and restorative treatment. Neuroprotective treatment, however, is close to becoming reality.
