Abstract We study the renormalization group running of axion couplings while taking into account that the Standard Model can be extended to its supersymmetric extension at a certain energy scale below the axion decay constant. We then apply our results to three different classes of axion models, i.e. KSVZ-like, DFSZ-like, and string-theoretic axions, and examine if string-theoretic axions can be distinguished from others by having a different pattern of low energy couplings to the photon… Expand

High-quality axions in solutions to the μ problem
Solutions to the μ problem in supersymmetry based on the Kim-Nilles mechanism naturally feature a Dine-Fischler-Srednicki-Zhitnitsky (DFSZ) axion with decay constant of order the geometric mean ofExpand
Axion emission from supernova with axion-pion-nucleon contact interaction
We examine the axion emission from supernovae with a complete set of relevant axion couplings including the axion-pion-nucleon contact interaction which was ignored in the previous studies. TwoExpand

The type IIB string axiverse and its low-energy phenomenology
A bstractWe study closed string axions in type IIB orientifold compactifications. We show that for natural values of the background fluxes the moduli stabilisation mechanism of the LARGE VolumeExpand
String theoretic QCD axion with stabilized saxion and the pattern of supersymmetry breaking
String theoretic axion is a prime candidate for the QCD axion solving the strong CP problem. For a successful realization of the QCD axion in string theory, one needs to stabilize moduli includingExpand
String theoretic QCD axions in the light of PLANCK and BICEP2
A bstractThe QCD axion solving the strong CP problem may originate from antisymmetric tensor gauge fields in compactified string theory, with a decay constant around the GUT scale. Such possibilityExpand
An M theory solution to the strong CP-problem, and constraints on the axiverse
We give an explicit realization of the “StringAxiverse” discussed in Arvanitaki et. al [1] by extending our previous results on moduli stabilization in M theory to include axions. We extend theExpand
Axion Cosmology
Axions comprise a broad class of particles that can play a major role in explaining the unknown aspects of cosmology. They are also well-motivated within high energy physics, appearing in theoriesExpand
The QCD axion, precisely

Manifesting the invisible axion at low energies
Abstract We discuss the low energy properties of the invisible axion in an effective field theory language. We study the most general model in which the strong CP problem is solved by a Peccei-QuinnExpand
The minimal flavour violating axion

Couplings and scales in strongly coupled heterotic string theory
If nature is described by string theory, and if the compactification radius is large (as suggested by the unification of couplings), then the theory is in a regime best described by the low energyExpand
Minimal axion model from flavor
We show that solving the flavor problem of the Standard Model with a simple $U(1{)}_{H}$ flavor symmetry naturally leads to an axion that solves the strong $CP$ problem and constitutes a viable DarkExpand
