Total lipid extraction, solid-phase extraction, saponification, derivatization to trimethylsilyl ether derivatives, then capillary gas-liquid chromatography were used for quantitative analysis of sitosterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, sitostanol, campestanol, lathosterol, desmosterol, and lanosterol in human serum.
