Precancerous states include ulcerative colitis, adenomatosis coli, Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, juvenile polyposis, metaplastic polyposis, aberrant crypt foci, Crohn’s disease, schistosomiasis, intestinal tuberculosis, and radiation colitis. Precancerous lesions include adenoma with severe atypia, adenoma developing in patients with herenditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), serrated adenoma, and dysplasia found in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis.
