SummaryStreptomyces phaeochromogenes cells were immobilized in a polymer matrix of 2-hydroxyethyl methacylate (HEMA) by irradiation-induced polymerization of the monomer frozen with the cells. The matrix with entrapped cells was cut into flakes. Activity of glucose isomerase in the matrix was 70–80% of that in non-immobilized cells, and the Michaelis constant was similar (0.36–0.38M).
