Effects of inorganic lead (Pb2+) on defined subtypes of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors have been investigated. Voltage clamp experiments have been performed on Xenopus oocytes expressing alpha 3 beta 2, alpha 3 beta 4 and alpha 4 beta 2 neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor subunit combinations.
