BACKGROUND Deficiency of ADAMTS13 (adisintegrin-like and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin type-1 motifs 13) results in an increase in unusually large von Willebrand factor multimer (UL-VWFM) of the plasma and finally causes microcirculatory disturbance.
