This study shows, apparently for the first time, that the administration of bone derived proteins (putative bone growth factors) obtained from bovine demineralized maxillaries has a direct effect on osteogenesis, affecting significantly some markers of bone formation such as lactate dehydrogenase activity and serum osteocalcin.
